Road Funding Proposal

The Council will soon consider Proposal 192, a plan aimed at increasing funding for road repairs across Marion County.

If approved, the proposal would increase the county vehicle excise surtax and wheel tax beginning next year. The additional revenue is expected to generate about $70 million for local road improvements and help Indianapolis unlock another $50 million annually from the state.

Nobody needs a lecture about the condition of some of our roads. You drive them. You feel every pothole. You know what happens when a bad road costs you a tire, an alignment, or time you didn’t have to lose.

This proposal deserves serious public discussion. Residents will have opportunities to share feedback during upcoming committee meetings, and I encourage you to make your voice heard.
